Women’s History Month 2026 and What’s New at YWCA Monterey County
This year, for Women's History Month 2026, we're excited to share Our Herstory! We're celebrating incredible women who've shaped YWCA's long legacy. Let's talk about Dr. Dorothy I. Height, who lived from 1912 to 2010. She was known as the "Godmother of the Civil Rights Movement," and her life's work was nothing short of bold and impactful. As YWCA’s first Director of Racial Justice, her historic call to “eliminate racism, wherever it exists, by any means necessary” at the 1970 YWCA National Conference continues to inspire generations.
Women's History Month is all about uplifting the trailblazers who paved the way for future generations. It's also about celebrating young leaders who are writing the next chapter. We’ll be diving into the stories of these phenomenal women across our socials. So, follow along, get inspired, and equip yourself with knowledge. We’re outlining the stories of women who were far ahead of their time, and we can't wait to share their journeys with you, so follow along!
Final Amount Raised During MC Gives!
We are still glowing after the incredible support and generosity shown during the MC Gives campaign; it's been nothing short of transformative. The final totals are here and with a staggering amount of $179,730 donated, we have shattered previous records and climbed to the 18th spot on the leaderboard, earning an additional $2,500 bonus from the community foundation. This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the heartfelt contributions from our community. Thank you for making this possible!
The 70th UN Commission on the Status of Women
YWCA USA is thrilled to send delegates to the 70th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women! This global event champions gender equity and uplifts women and girls worldwide. From March 9–13, 2026, delegates will flock to New York City. Ten outstanding delegates from YWCA's 193 Local Associations will represent their mission and advocacy. They'll dive into conversations with global leaders on women's rights, economic progress, and health protection. Sessions will share powerful stories from women everywhere, especially from rural and high-risk areas. Delegates will also gain insights into the challenges and innovations faced by grassroots organizations supporting women, trans, and gender-nonconforming individuals. Exciting times ahead!
Target Circle Campaign-Direct Target Donation Funds
As a participant in a special charitable giving campaign sponsored and funded by Target, you have the chance to help direct a portion of Target’s donation to us! Now through March 31st, vote for us through the Target Circle program to help determine how Target’s donation will be divvied up. Find out more about Target Circle here. We’re asking our supporters to help us make the most of this incredible opportunity. Every vote counts to help us receive a portion of the available Target funds as we continue providing trauma-informed wrap-around care for victims of domestic violence. Don’t forget, as you earn more votes, you can keep voting multiple times during the campaign!
