Dear YWCA Monterey County Friends:

Updates about Service Provision Under Shelter-in-Place

In light of the increase in positive COVID-19 cases in Monterey County, we have not been able to resume delivering in-person services from our main office in Salinas. We value the health and safety of our staff and clients alike and will continue to ensure a safe workplace informed by science and public health guidelines. This involves remote work for many staff, stringent office sanitization protocols, and flexibility in the midst of a rapidly changing environment. You can find updates about each of our programs below:

  • Shelter Services will remain open for new clients and we continue to practice all safe guidelines as issued by the CDC.  When we do not have capacity to take on new clients, we will work to ensure suitable referrals where possible.
  • Human Trafficking clients can be referred to the HT department as usual and we will offer appropriate responses remotely through case management.
  • Transitional Housing continues to take new referrals and our Case Manager will work remotely with each client.
  • 24/7 Crisis Line continues to operate as usual. Please call +1-831-372-6300 or +1-831-757-1001 for help.
  • Therapy continues to be offered via our online platform or by phone.
  • Legal Advocacy is providing services via phone and scheduling times for clients to pick up and drop off legal paperwork. All court hearings are being held by Zoom and program staff are able to provide virtual accompaniment.
  • Outreach and Prevention is communicating with different school partners to generate strategies for delivering prevention services should local districts opt to proceed with virtual instruction this fall.

As external stakeholders, volunteers, and mission-related supporters, we welcome your thoughts. Please feel free to contact us at info@ywcamc.org Your ideas and comments are important as we all move forward together.

Domestic abuse has become the shadow pandemic to Covid-19.  Quarantining with an abuser who may already be in an elevated stress level increases the chance of domestic violence. Covid-19 and Economic Recovery

Wednesday, October 28, 2020

Covid-19 and the economic crisis disproportionately impacts women. The impact is due to the type of work women typically perform. The LBJ School of Public Affairs at The… Continue Reading Covid-19 and Economic Recovery
