YWCA is on a mission and YWCA Monterey County is making it our own!

The YWCA Monterey County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Through ongoing programs, conferences, events, and initiatives, YWCA-MC leaders are engaging communities to recognize the broad-based, negative and consequential effects of domestic violence and racism. Our mission and work require courage. We must serve communities most affected by economic, racial, and gender oppression. Together we can influence policies and legislation that ensure progress for all people impacted by violence, poverty, racism, and sexism.

We are evolving our services to meet the changing needs of our clients today and in the future.

We remain rooted in rich history, but our approach to serving our clients is holistic, strategic and innovative.

At a national level, the YWCA advocates for various issues such as lobbying for pay equity and hate crimes legislation, increasing funding for Head Start, and passing the Violence Against Women Act. On a local level, the YWCA Monterey County provides services that make a direct impact on the community, helping victims of abuse to go from surviving to thriving. Through our programs, we are bringing positive changes in the lives of women, their families, and the community, by restoring hope. Our outreach efforts play a significant role in ending domestic violence and empowering women and girls of color by laying the foundation for a better future.
